Ghana – an exciting African country

Ghana located in west Africa's Gulf of Guinea, and not too far from the equator, is an exciting country to experience. We Ghanaians are a warm, friendly people who boast of our country as the being the "Gateway to Africa"; at least that is what our political leaders claim 🙂

The climate here is a typical tropical one; sunny most of the time, humid most of the time. Our until recently, only international airport, the Kotoka Airport (KIA) is a busy one, with over thirty international airlines flying into and out of it — many of them with daily flights (before COVID-19).

It is for good reason that Ghana was formerly called The Gold Coast: we've always had plenty of gold... it's not completely depleted yet; but now our locals are making frenetic efforts to get all of it - soonest. And they are using both crude and advanced means to achieve that. One would need special licenses/clearance to export gold dust/ingots/bars; but if it's just one or two locally-made gold bracelet or ring etc., it becomes a personal item; and is usually considered as such.

When it come to beautiful beaches, lakes, rivers and waterfalls, we have more than our fair share. We can boast of Labadi (aka La), Busua, Brenu beaches and Wli, Boti and Kintampo waterfalls. All these are super places to visit.

The Slave Castles are also one of Ghana's main tourist attractions — and there are many of them open to the public. Discover more Ghana tourist sites here.
